Congratulations David Ericsson, who has won magazine Form’s Designer of the Year award for the Petite chair launched recently at the Stockholm Furniture Fair. Inspired by classical café chairs, he has designed a contemporary alternative. The Petite chair is based on a minimalistic construction that takes great care of the details, as seen in the back joints and front legs, which give this chair its unique character. The conical seat makes the chair lighter and the moulded back plate is higher for better stability. In addition, Petite is stackable and scaled down by design. This year’s Form Award jury consisted of Form magazine’s editor-in-chief Bo Madestrand and Svensk Form’s new CEO Mats Widbom.
The jury’s citation:
“In recent years, David Ericsson has emerged as one of his generation’s most exciting designers. With the neat Petite chair, he has created an everyday contemporary classic that combines a reduced style with ingenious details: especially in the joins of the back-plate and legs. You don’t always have to shout to be heard over the noise.”
