For the staff restaurant at the headquarters of the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute in Norrköping, Gärsnäs has delivered 148 sound-absorbing Akustik armchairs by Åke Axelsson, in light ash, as well as 24 of his M-bord tables. SMHI’s sustainability mandate from the state requires a high environmental profile when it comes to materials, manufacture and even acoustics. The majority of the interior complies with Nordic Ecolabel standards. The design is by ÅWL Arkitekter. “It is a timeless project and will last for a very long time to come,” says Martin Kihlberg, interior architect at ÅWL.
