Kengo Kuma

Kengo Kuma (b. 1954) has been fascinated by architecture since childhood. He studied at the University of Tokyo, researched local architecture in the Sahara and studied further at Columbia University in New York. Kengo Kuma & Associates began in Tokyo 1990. The studio has specialised in expressive architecture that collaborates with place, people and local conditions. Kengo Kuma & Associates often works with wood and has designed museums, residential complexes, city halls, offices, restaurants and the Japan National Stadium in Tokyo.
