A large retrospective exhibition on Åke Axelsson will open 3 September at A. Petersen Gallery in Copenhagen. Large parts of Åke’s furniture history will be on display: everything from his very first work, a cabinet, built at the age of 12, to new furniture made this year in Åke’s workshop on Engarn near Vaxholm. In between, we see furniture and interiors from a career spanning more than seven decades. Åke’s studio has inspired the exhibition’s style which features lots of chairs, the odd piece of furniture, prototypes and classics. Gärsnäs will be displaying its modern profile and history on a five-metre long stand.
