Pierre Sindre wins the Bruno Mathsson Prize 2022. One of our most faithful and successful designers is awarded this classic prize that honours Swedish furniture design; lovely recognition from the Karin and Bruno Mathsson Foundation.
“It’s particularly great when someone actually notices these types of conference-room chairs and public-contract furniture; sees them as the exceptionally fine products they really are,” says a thrilled Pierre Sindre.
From the jury’s citation: “With a strong sense of design and esprit, Sindre creates hardworking beauty for everyone. Appearances are often deceptive; a minimalist, curved seat offers surprising comfort. Great, generous shapes are expressed with visual lightness.”
Which is why Gärsnäs loves to work with Pierre: his talent in finding the exquisite balance between intelligence and elegance, based firmly in his fondness for 60s style and material finesse. The entire Day series and the new Dino chair are worth a standing ovation by themselves.
The Prize will be presented in October in Mathsson’s home town of Värnamo, at Vandalorum, which will also open an exhibition with Pierre Sindre.
