Study day “From forest to chair” – The Ronja-project
Thank you to everyone who participated in our study day on May 16 with the theme “From forest to chair – A study day focusing on the material beech wood”. It was a successful day with many discussions about the beech’s characteristics and role as furniture wood.
We started by visiting the Fulltofta Nature Center where Emma Sandell talked about clear-cut-free beech forest management. Then we went to Skättilljunga sawmill where Rolf Svensson informed us how it is done when they saw beech. The last stop was our factory in Gärsnäs, where Petra Mattsson, Environment and sustainability manager, talked about our chair Ronja and the project with a local beech value chain, as well as Victor af Wetterstedt, Product development manager, who presented different beech products and talked about the qualities of beech as furniture wood. The day ended with a tour in our factory.
In connection with their launch of the “Guide for biological diversity”, TMF has written an article about our investment in the Ronja chair and our beech forest project. Read the article and the guide here: Gärsnäs and local beech wood – a lifelong relationship that will grow
