Welcome Victor

Victor af Wetterstedt is the new Product Development Manager and Environment Manager at Gärsnäs. He begins in August. Victor is an expert furniture maker, having trained in furniture design for three years at Malmstens Linköping University where he was then employed as a teacher after graduating. With solid experience in 3D drawings, CNC technology and even environmental policy and sustainability, Victor will be an important asset in the evolution of Gärsnäs.

“Gärsnäs is exciting. They are working with the future in terms of material and construction, yet always based on honest materials and its history,” says Victor, who will be moving to Skåne.

“I bring to the company a thorough knowledge of woodworking techniques. If I’m cheeky, I might call it cutting-edge competence,” he laughs and then mentions his dedication to the environment. “I will also be working with the circular vision, environmental labelling and hopefully developing sustainable solutions at Gärsnäs.”

A love for wood came about early in life. Victor’s father was a carpenter. “There was always some building going on and as kids were allowed to join in: everything from tree houses to on-site interiors. I was raised in an old timber house in Enskede that was constantly under renovation. That’s where I really got a taste for carpentry.”

After studies at Nyckelvik School’s wood and design course, he made further studies in environmental science. He worked with environmental certification at the Sweden Green Building Council. Gradually, Victor began to long for building things by hand again and so the studies of furniture design at Malmstens. Now he is looking forward to starting at Gärsnäs. “It’s a big step, but it will be fun and interesting.”
