Gärsnäs does not forget about its furniture once it leaves the factory in Österlen. We almost consider them our children, finding their own lives and serving a purpose. We constantly wonder what happens to them and provide help whenever necessary.
Urgent environmental issues are everywhere and our circular vision ensures that Gärsnäs reuses its furniture, renovates them and gets everything back on track, ready for many more years of use.
“How many chairs have left the factory these past 50 years?” wonders Fredrik Wallenholm, Circular transition manager at Gärsnäs. “We are searching for all this furniture and wish to inform people that we would love to take good care of it.”
A project has now been launched to actively find all those major projects that Gärsnäs has furnished over the past 30 years. “It’s quite an extreme form of customer care, but we want to be proactive. That’s how we wish to work.”
Gärsnäs furniture is made to withstand hard wear and tear. It is also designed and constructed to be disassembled and renovated. Our furniture is also tested rigorously, in order to attain certification. The materials can be separated to allow reuse or recycling. Inappropriate chemicals are replaced by better alternatives. The construction of our furniture makes it extremely durable, but fashions and colour trends shift rapidly. Perhaps that lilac-coloured Vaxholmaren chair is driving you crazy or that stained leather sofa from 1986. Yet it is so easy to refurbish.
We can renovate to the level you require. From minor maintenance or repainting, to new upholstery, to a complete renovation to make the piece as good as new again.
Gärsnäs already has a reuse programme in place. Our salespeople are careful to explain the opportunities offered by renovation. Now we are initiating an outreach service. “We will gladly visit environments with Gärsnäs furniture, make an inventory and propose possible measures, at no cost. If the need is not urgent, then we can set up a long-term plan including revisits,” says Fredrik Wallenholm. We wish to be in touch with those who have well-used Gärsnäs furniture, who like them and want to give a new lease of life.
