Färg & Blanche: masters of wood tailoring
Creative duo Färg & Blanche launch Julius, a new sofa and easy chair made using the revolutionary technique of wood tailoring. Färg & Blanche have invented and developed the concept of wood tailoring, which involves the sewing together of a piece of furniture and a dramatic reduction in the use of glue.

“It has taken us hundreds of hours sitting by the sewing machine to find the best solutions. It looks so easy, just needle and thread, but to achieve the ultimate method we really had to turn the technique of wood tailoring inside out. It’s similar to making a mould: the process can be extremely long, but when it’s finally fixed, then most of the work is done,” says Färg & Blanche.

David Ericsson renews his set of seating furniture with Hedwig
Last year’s success, the Madonna chair, is followed up this year by David Ericsson’s new easy chair: Hedwig. The point of departure is a comfortable easy chair made with exquisite craftsmanship. Hedwig is also a homage to the designer’s wife, who likes to read and drink tea. David Ericsson has placed great emphasis on the easy chair being a joy to sit in and the sculptured, rounded armrests are just the right size for a cup of tea. David Ericsson has been inspired by the history of Swedish furniture making, in particular Axel Einar Hjorth, chief architect at Nordiska Kompaniet in the 1920s and 30s, and the designer of exceedingly high-quality furniture. Just like many of Axel Einar Hjorth’s models, Hedwig is constructed using a wooden frame with stretched leather or alternatively canvas. The deceptively simple construction belies the genuine craftsmanship and skill involved.

Day family adds Day Lite and Day High
Pierre Sindre expands his popular office series, Day, with another two chairs: Day Lite and Day High. The Day series is both sober and rich in variation. With the slimline auditorium chair, Day Lite, which is connectable, stackable and hangable, and Day High, whose high back offers extra comfort during long sittings, the Day series covers the entire spectrum of the modern office.

POP series expanded and refined
Patrik Bengtsson and Pierre Sindre have refined their POP series and taken it to new heights. Not only has POP been enriched with an accompanying easy chair, which like the sofa is available with a low, medium or high back, but the entire series has been given a new sophisticated look and new functionality. They found inspiration from early 70s silk scarfs by Hermès and the timeless rattan handbags by saddle maker Palmgrens. The high backrests create a partition effect and are made of rattan finished with a strong leather edge. Another new feature is that the upholstery is removable. The entire series exudes exclusivity and thorough quality, sending strong signals about durability and a beautiful patina.

This year’s stand designed by Pierre Sindre
The Gärsnäs stand is characterised by a warm, inviting feeling featuring textiles and a thoughtful selection of materials. The focus is on quality and sustainability, and Pierre Sindre has deliberately chosen to profile and highlight the good craftsmanship and fine materials. This year’s colours are coral-red and jade-green, as well as beige, taupe and the cognac hues of the leather upholstery.

Gärsnäs is a leading producer of high-quality designer furniture for public environments. Our own factory in Gärsnäs makes the furniture and active environmental work is a matter of course in every part of the manufacturing process.
